Provides entry-level participants the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize and respond to aquatic emergencies and to provide care for breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries and sudden illnesses until EMS personnel take over. Prerequisites: Participants who successfully complete the Lifeguarding course receive an American Red Cross certificate for Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED, valid for 2 years.
Prerequisites include:
- Participants must be 15 years or older.
- Blended learning 6 hours of online course work before stat of course. Participants will be emailed instructions for this.
- Must be able to swim 150 meters tread water for two minutes with no hands followed by another 50 meters.
- Swimming 25 yards and retrieving a ten pound brick from the 10 feet of water and returning with the brick to the side of the pool.
