Workshops that show participants how to achieve and maintain a healthy lifestyles thorough a series of educational workshops.  Dr. Laurice Howell, RDN, LD, CBC is a registered dietitian  with years of experience in nutrition and health.

Label Reading: Participants will learn to make informed decisions towards choosing good nutrition and health. Use Nutrition Facts food labels to find out how much fat, sugar and other nutrients are in a product and identify ways to make healthier food choices. Participants will learn how food labels are helpful to everyone, why are they necessary for people with food allergies or certain health problems, like diabetes or heart disease.

Preventing Type 2 Diabetes: The class is intended to inspire and empower healthful eating and a healthful lifestyle for the purpose of preventing type 2 diabetes. Type 2 diabetes is a chronic disease that disproportionately affects people of color. Connecting to culturally relevant behaviors, the course will give participants the tools they need to make healthy behavior changes.

Kidney Disease What You Should Know: Participants will learn what CKD is. The impact of CKD on health and well-being. Participants will also learn about diet and CKD, and how lifestyle and certain diseases can place them at risk for developing CKD.

Vegetarianism in a Nutshell: Participants will learn the economic value and health benefits of a plant-based diet. Discover the relationship between diet and disease and receive tips on planning a budget friendly vegetarian diet.
